Jacob Borden (1993) is an American photographer based in Beirut, Lebanon.
His work in the medium began in 2014 after discovering world-renowned photojournalist John Stanmeyer lived in his small hometown in Massachusetts. After convincing the National Geographic photographer into being his assistant, he began an apprenticeship which exposed him to the wider world and the potential photography has for social impact.
Borden was quickly hired by his hometown newspaper where he spent the next four years honing his eye and sense of storytelling, and simultaneously began to capture stories abroad. He has since completed assignments in half a dozen countries and is currently based in Beirut, Lebanon.
He was recently shortlisted for the 2019 FujiFilm Young Talent Award, completed the 2019 VII Masterclass in Warsaw, Poland, and was selected for the Eddie Adams Workshop XXXI, one of the world’s most prestigious photojournalism workshops.
His work has garnered numerous grants and accolades including 1st prize in the 2017 Tbilisi Kolga Photo Festivel. He has worked for clients both editorial and commercial including NASA, The BBC, Vice News, Aljazeera, ChaiKhana, Berkshire Magazine and Burn Magazine.
